Sherice Muhammad

Ms. Muhammad works in partnership with the Department of Energy and the Environment (DOEE) and Harrison Institute for Public Law | Georgetown University to serve on its Resilience Hub Community Coalition (RHCC)— Ward 7, a working group engaged to build out response for steady, disruption and recovery states, climate change and establishing of the local economy. Ms. Muhammad is part of the Community Emergency Response Training Team (CERT). She is also the Communications Director for DC For Democracy.

A strong ally of public education, Ms. Muhammad served three consecutive terms as Chair for the McKinley Technology High School DCPS Local School Advisory Team (LSAT), DC Public Schools’ Chancellor’s Parent Advisory Board, and the Innovation and Systems Improvement Advisory Board (ISI). Ms. Muhammad currently serves on McKinley Tech’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) as Compliance Officer and Chair of the Student Enrichment Committee. Ms. Muhammad is co-founder of HEADSUP Inc., [Harnessing Entrepreneurship & Access Driven by STEAM], a non-profit which focuses on STEM Education advocacy and recipient of the 2022 Drug-Free Communities Support Program grant by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Ms. Muhammad is a former ANC Commissioner having served three consecutive terms as Chair of Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 7D, a local, grassroots government agency serving the northeast corridor of Ward 7 in Washington, DC. Under her leadership, the Commission, increased in community engagement and she led in complex constituent-developer negotiations for Community Benefit Agreements. She continues to serve on the Ward 7 Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, as advisors to the DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) and to the Office of Planning. Ms. Muhammad has a regulatory consulting service to provide corporate governance and advisory onboarding for new ANC commissioners.

As Second Vice President of the DC Consumer Utility Board (a partner with Grid 2.0), or DC CUB, Ms. Muhammad advocates on behalf of District ratepayers for progressive reforms at DC’s electric, water, natural gas, and telecommunications. She was spotlighted in the Washington Post as an editorial contributor in a side-by-side rebuttal to the CEO of Exelon, regarding the PEPCO/Exelon merger and its damaging financial and environmental impact to the Washington-DC region.

Ms. Muhammad is a paralegal, public relations, events management and mass media professional who resides in Deanwood.
