Laura Washington
Laura has worked for over 15 years in Wards 7 and 8 to engage and educate residents in environmental awareness and stewardship with DOEE, NPS the Anacostia Watershed Society and others. Laura has an extensive background in energy regulation, environmental management, stormwater management, wildlife conservation and NEPA. A resident of Ward 7, Ms. Washington is excited to help ensure that District residents of all wards, socio-economic levels and demographics are resilient and empowered. She holds a B. S. degree in Animal Science from Tuskegee University, and a master’s degree from Yale University in Wildlife Conservation and International Environmental Policy. She is the founder and Executive Director of Culture Nature Community, an environmental nonprofit and is also currently a program manager in the U.S. Department of Energy.
